HDD Pirates – Win | HDD Bears – Win
HDD Pirates vs Smelly Flies – Win
We lost the toss and fielded first. We had a much better effort with the ball and in the field and kept the opposition to 7-138 off 20 overs. Simon Dwyer who filled in for us bowled 2 overs and took 2/6, Justin Kuncio bowled 4 overs and took 2/16 and I bowled 4 overs and took 3/34.
Simon and I opened the batting, with Simon retiring on 51 off 36, 47 from myself before Raymond Hook, the run machine, came in for a quick cameo hitting 21 off 12. Joe, Agnel and Dave did the rest relatively easily! We got the runs 3 wickets down with 8 balls to spare. Great win Pirates!

HDD Bears vs WFINR – Win
The HDD Bears have moved to 4th on the ladder, notching their 6th win of the season today against the beautifully named “Warnie’s face is not real”. Abdullah backed up for his 2nd game for the Bears and having a player ranked 68 in the world for batting and 39 in the world for bowling wasn’t lost on the WFINR side – they saved their best 2 bowlers until he came in at no.5 which allowed Dane and myself to get the side off to a decent start.
The Bears were 1 for 91 from the first 10, with Dave falling for a run a ball-ish 7 and when Dane retired with 50 from 35 shortly after, the platform was set for a great total. Joe faced some chin music from a rather nippy Rudy Raj and fell for 8, bringing Abdullah to the crease. The bloke is just a joy to watch! He wasn’t at his absolute best today with not everything coming out of the middle but in about 10mins he had another 50 to his name, retiring on 55 from 18. Murray and Imraan got the score to 181 from 20 and the boys felt good heading out to defend the total.
With Swifty out with a broken thumb, I had to stand in with the gloves and picked up a stumping in the 2nd over from Dave’s quality leggies, before providing the crowd with some comic relief shortly after………….stumbling over when racing to catch a skied ball, getting clumsily back to my feet, taking a second to locate the ball in the air and then hardly laying a glove on it!
Dane kept it tight early doors and when Imraan chimed in with a couple of wickets the Bears had their nose in front. WFINR kept themselves in the contest with a few good knocks and took it to the last over but Murray,Sumudu and Abdullah bowled well at the death and the Bears held their nerve and restricted them to 169 for a great, hard fought victory.
Wicket takers were Dave 1 for 33 from his 4, Imraan 2 for 19 from 3 and Murray with 2 from 35 from 3.
Top win boys – keep them coming!!!
